Willow Grove Residence

This residence is situated in a pristine setting near the Columbia river in Willow Grove, Washington. The design responds to the client’s desire to have a rustic country residence like a log cabin but built with more refined timbers. The arched timber frame entry leads to a spacious vaulted great room with heavy timber ceilings and an expansive window wall which faces the grassy plains that make up the river valley. The board and batten siding features boards that were reclaimed by the owner from an old moorage that was buried at the bottom of the Columbia River. The black markings from the metal ties is still evident and add to the unique character of the boards. The wrap around covered porch provides a place to relax and entertain outside even in inclement weather. The Columbia river is visible from the master bedroom balcony. A shop building was designed in the same rustic style.
